DHAKA, Jan 23, 2026 (BSS) - The Coast Guard has arrested a smuggler along with a large consignment of Indian sarees worth Taka 20.67 crore in Fatulla of the district for evading customs duties. On a tip-off, members of the Pagla Coast Guard Station conducted a special operation in the area adjacent to Shibu Market under Fatulla Police Station early Thursday morning. During the operation, a suspicious covered van was stopped and recovered the sarees after searching the vehicle, he said. The total value of the seized goods estimated at Taka 20 crore 67 lakh 50 thousand. One smuggler was arrested in connection with the illegal consignment.
