IPOH: A snatch thief's attempt to rob a 20-year-old Swiss tourist was successfully thwarted when a police patrol stopped the crime at Jalan Raja Ekram here. Ipoh OCPD Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong said police successfully seized the tourist's bag from the snatch thief and nabbed him on the spot following the incident which happened at 5am on Wednesday. The tourist refused to let go of his bag when the 23-year-old snatch thief came up to him on a motorcycle and tried to get the bag. He added that the police found a Swiss identification card, a MasterCard and a Swiss driving licence in the tourist's bag, among other personal belongings. The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery.
