Snyder County DA Piecuch Planning Judge Run, Sholley Retiring

MIDDLEBURG – Union-Snyder County President Judge Michael Sholley announced his retirement Wednesday, and Snyder County District Attorney Michael Piecuch says he’ll run for judge. The judge’s retirement is effective January 1. Piecuch explains, that following Sholley’s retirement, Judge Lori Hackenberg will serve as president judge, which opens up her associate judge spot for the November 2023 ballot. Piecuch says he’s had a number of people approach him to consider running for the bench, and he says he’ll ‘circle back to those folks and come up with a plan.’Piecuch called Sholley’s retirement ‘the end of an era,’ and a ‘legacy of public service almost unmatched,’ following Sholley’s careers in law enforcement, the military, public defender, judge and other roles.
