But having spoken to many of the other survivors since the review was published, Stewart says that they reject this conclusion. Before the end of the year, the FA had commissioned the Independent Review into Child Sexual Abuse in Football 1970-2005. The review found that there were at least 240 suspects and 692 survivors of sexual abuse within football as of August 2020. Other sports -- as has recently been shown with the revelations of sexual abuse in gymnastics -- are also vulnerable.
