After assuming his office, the foreign secretary met with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, according to Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal. Qureshi said Sohail Mehmood is a seasoned and experienced diplomat with a long experience of serving at important positions including as the high commissioner to India. Sohail Mehmood in his remarks said that he will make the utmost efforts to perform his duties to the best of his capabilities. He expressed gratitude to the outgoing foreign secretary Tehmina Janjua saying he had learnt a lot from her experience.
