Someone Great is not trying to force you to think any specific ways about its story, or even its female leads. She’s a female lead we see so rarely on screen because she’s fully formed and acting — and talking — like a real late-20’s woman. In reality, slipping in and out of conversations, varying in severity and topic is just how female friendships work. However, it’s still not fair to say Someone Great is, at face value, a story just about the complexities of female friendship. Essentially, it’s a story about life and growing up, and it just happens to star three female leads who have a ridiculously strong bond.
