Brazil and South Korea have two things in common: ridiculously expensive Olympics and corruption at the highest level. For South Korea, now enjoying a wintry spotlight, the hope is not to suffer the same fate in PyeongChang as Brazil suffered in Rio. Brazil's Summer Olympics in August 2016 saw opening week ratings fall 32% from the previous Olympics in London, according to Nielsen. Brazil and South Korea have more in common than weak viewership. Unlike the way they treated Brazil, the media have been relatively easy on South Korea.
