Share TweetBy ReutersSEOUL – Risks to South Korea’s economic growth have risen mostly from outside the country, warranting stronger policy measures to support growth, the country’s top presidential economic policy aide said. “Along with the slowing global economy, downside risks to the South Korean economy have also risen,” Yoon Jong-won told reporters, although he did not comment on interest rate policy. The trade conflict between the United States and China has lasted longer than expected, making it difficult to predict when South Korea’s economy would turn around, he said. South Korea’s trade-dependent economy unexpectedly contracted by a seasonally adjusted 0.4% in the first quarter from the previous quarter, its worst performance since the 2008-2009 global financial crisis.
