(Courtesy of Taj Indian Cuisine)Last November, Taj Indian Cuisine in South Portland installed a food warming cabinet in its entryway, stocked with free meals for anyone in need. Owner Sai Guntaka said on Monday the restaurant has decided to keep the hot box stocked and available year-round. Last fall, Guntaka had planned to put a refrigerator in the Taj entryway stocked with free meals, but changed to a warming cabinet to offer hot, ready-to-eat food. “In the beginning, we only did it on holidays,” Guntaka said, referring to Taj’s tradition of giving out thousands of free meals to Mainers in need at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
