Southampton appear to be holding firm in their stance on the defender Virgil van Dijk, with an official statement announcing the arrival of Lazio centre-back Wesley Hoedt stating that their new signing will “develop alongside” his Dutch compatriot. The centre-back has been linked with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City and submitted a transfer request earlier this month.
