Efforts by SpaceX and Ukrainian authorities to stop Russia from using Starlink terminals to guide attack drones in Ukraine are showing results, Ukraine’s defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov said on Sunday, as the war continues and concerns grow over the misuse of the satellite internet system. Fedorov said Ukraine has been working with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which owns Starlink, to block Russian forces from using the service for military operations. Fedorov continued, “In the coming days, we will share instructions for Ukrainian users to register their Starlink terminals for verification. According to military technology expert and Ukrainian Defense Ministry adviser, Serhii Beskrestnov, Ukraine has documented “hundreds” of attacks involving Russian drones fitted with Starlink terminals. Ukrainian officials say the new verification system is expected to strengthen control over Starlink usage and prevent further exploitation by Russian forces as the conflict continues.
