SpaceX's Dragon cargo capsule on route to the ISS with ANTS, avocados and ice cream

Ants, avocados and a human-sized robotic arm will arrive at the International Space Station later today on a SpaceX Dragon cargo ship. They will test it using ants, plants and brine shrimp, with mirrored experiments on Earth and the ISS. One of the Girl Scouts experiments will examine how tomatoes, peppers, and lemongrass grow in microgravity. The ants heading for the station were sent up by the Girl Scouts, along with brine shrimp and plants to act as test subjects. NASA turned to SpaceX and other US companies to deliver cargo and crews to the space station, once the space shuttle program ended in 2011.
