Spain said Thursday it planned to take Carles Puigdemont’s bid to make a comeback as Catalan leader to the Constitutional Court, saying he could not become regional president as he is wanted for his role in the independence drive. Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy plans to “challenge in the Constitutional Court a resolution by the (Catalan) parliament’s speaker… in which he proposes lawmaker Carles Puigdemont as the candidate for the regional presidency,” his deputy Soraya Saenz de Santamaria told reporters.
