Police have rescued a spotted deer in Pirojpur on Thursday, January 31,2019 Dhaka Tribune‘The deer will be released in the Sundarbans, home to the endangered species’Police have rescued a spotted deer, after being informed by locals in Mathbaria upazila in Pirojpur, on Thursday. In-charge of Choraputia camp of Sundarbans, Md Ismail Hossain said they saw an empty boat on Gakar Varani channel during their regular patrolling and recovered a slaughtered deer, 200 traps used for deer poaching and permits of three fishermen. With the latest recovery, authorities have now seized 85kg venison from Sundarbans in the last three weeks. Earlier on Wednesday, a six-month-old spotted deer of an animal farm was found slaughtered at Mohonpur village of Kalukhali upazila in Rajbari district. Kalukhali police station Officer-in-charge SM Abu Farhad said locals slaughtered the deer while it was running across the field in pain and injury marks from a dog-bite.
