Former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is now the leading candidate for the role after promising talks and Spurs are looking to press ahead with their efforts to strengthen their squad for the new manager. According to The Sun, Tottenham have begun talks with Bologna to sign 22-year-old Japan international Tomiyasu and are confident of wrapping up a deal for around £15m. Although Italian side Atalanta had made a move for Tomiyasu, his preference is to play in the Premier League which has given Spurs the upper hand. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had wanted to have a manager in place before announcing any transfer deals this summer, but The Sun claims the deal for Tomiyasu ‘should happen shortly’ regardless of whether the new man has been installed or not.
