Under the directives and guidelines given by Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva, Sri Lanka Army has launched a house construction project for the less fortunate in Kilinochchi. Accordingly, the Army stated that at present, six houses are under construction in view of uplifting the living standards of the most-affected sections of the society while promoting reconciliation. General Officer Commanding, 66 Division Maj. Gen. Ajith Dissanayake closely supervises the project. Further, the Army stated that 20 Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 24 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 11 Gajaba Regiment, 20 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 5 Mechanized Infantry Regiment and 2 Sri Lanka National Guard troops have been involved in the project with the sponsorship of philanthropists and donors.
