St Ives Times and Echo closes after sudden death of editor


A family-owned weekly newspaper has closed after 126 years of publication following the sudden death of its editor. The body of Toni Carver, the editor-proprietor of the St Ives Times and Echo, was found by police at its offices in the town two weeks ago. Now Toni’s family have announced that the newspaper, one of the oldest in Cornwall, is ceasing publication. Under the headline ‘Newspaper Ceases Publication, it read: “It is with great regret and deep sadness that we must announce The St Ives Tines and Echo is to cease publication as from this issue. The Western Echo was founded in 1899 and the St Ives Times eleven years later.
