FORMER Manila Standard business reporter Gabrielle Marie Consuelo Binaday has received an award from the Philippine Statistics Authority for her reports in 2016 on the economy, using statistics and economic data. Binaday, who covered the Department of Finance and the National Economic and Development Authority for the Manila Standard until her resignation on Feb. 20, 2017, is this year’s winner for the print category of the 7th National Statistics Month Media Awards. She received the award on Oct. 2. Binaday, who studied Journalism at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Manila, now works for the Social Security System. 647 which declares the month of October as the national statistics month.
