Late Friday night, news broke that the Yankees were close to acquiring outfielder Giancarlo Stanton from the Miami Marlins. The Yankees also will reportedly receive some $30 million to cover Stanton's contract, although those terms haven't been disclosed as of writing. Simply put, this makes the Yankees one of -- if not the -- best teams in the American League. The Yankees do lose Castro, who played well for New York in 2017; hitting .300/.338/.454 with 16 homers for the Bronx Bombers. The return doesn't make the Marlins contenders in 2018 -- they probably weren't contenders with Stanton, anyway -- but it could help them in the future.
