The Allahabad High Court recently ordered the Uttar Pradesh Government to open the ‘sealed’ Madrasa in Shrawasti district stating that there is no provision which enables the authorities to stop the functioning of the institution on the ground that it is not recognised State Madrasa Board. The counsel for the State, however, said that running of an unrecognised madrasa may create unwarranted complications as the students of the institution will not be entitled to claim any benefit on the basis of qualification acquired from unrecognised madrasa. Committee of Management of Madrasa Ahle Sunnat Imam Ahmad Raza, situated in Shrawasti district, has approached the HC against orders of its sealing. It argue that this was the only consequence of being recognised and the madrasa could not have been shut down by the authorities. | ExplainedQuashing the order passed by the District Minority Welfare Officer, Shrawasti directing closure of the madrasa, the HC added the petitioner madrasa will not be entitled to claim any government grant till it is recognised.
