State records growth in sales tax collection


more-inThe State has registered appreciable growth in the sales tax collections over the past three years from ₹23,727 crore in 2014-15 to ₹35,231 crore 2016-17, a growth of more than ₹11,000 crore. Tax collection from Punjagutta covering twin cities was highest at ₹3,236 crore close to ₹800 crore rise when compared with ₹2,422 crore of the previous year. Tax collection from the Charminar office covering part of the twin cities was lowest at ₹813 crore while Secunderabad registered tax collection of ₹1,746 crore. Nizamabad division in particular registered an appreciable rise in tax collection compared to ₹573 crore in 2015-16 and ₹468 crore in 2014-15. Adilabad reported least tax of ₹314 crore and Karimnagar was a shade higher with tax collection of ₹471 crore in the report that took the erstwhile 10 districts as the basis.
