Two Canadian citizens, arrested and detained for no reason by the totalitarian Chinese government, and Canadian canola growers and pork producers, whose exports to China were abruptly halted by the same authoritarian regime, have only one person to blame— our prime minister. Some people ask — quite fairly — what can Canada do? We are a very small country in the larger scheme, and we certainly should not declare war. But a prime minister who had backbone could use other means to apply pressure.
