Stock markets slipped in Europe on Friday, but Wall Street was expected to rise on the open and Asian indexes closed higher. KEEPING SCORE: Germany's DAX index edged almost 0.1 percent lower to 12,458 and France's CAC 40 lost 0.2 percent to 5,299. On Wall Street, the future for the Dow Jones industrial average was up 0.4 percent and that for the Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 0.3 percent. JAPAN INFLATION: Japanese inflation edged up but stayed well below the central bank's target. "The upshot is that the Bank of Japan's 2 percent inflation target remains out of reach," said Marcel Thieliant of Capital Economics in a report.
