A Sept. 9, 2018 satellite image shows Tropical Storm Florence, Isaac and Helene in the Atantic Ocean. Florence’s effects are already being felt along the U.S. Southeast coast this weekend, with dangerous swells and rip currents in some spots. As of 5 p.m. EDT, Florence was centred about 1,160 kilometres southeast of Bermuda, moving west at 11 km/h. The governors of North and South Carolina and Virginia declared states of emergency far ahead of the storm to get ready. As Hurricane Florence approaches the East Coast, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington encouraged its students to leave campus for a safer location.
