However, the governance of marine fisheries remains fragmented due to variations in Marine Fishing Regulation Acts (MFRAs) implemented by coastal states and Union Territories. IntroductionIndia’s marine fisheries sector is a fundamental component of national coastal governance and the blue economy; however, its regulatory framework remains fragmented. Harmonising fisheries policies could also facilitate the development of a national fisheries certification system and uniform sustainability benchmarks. Alignment with Blue Economy and PMMSYIndia’s vision for its blue economy and the PMMSY depend on the effective enforcement of national marine policies.
