The epicentre of the earthquake was located 500km southeast of Dhaka in Myanmar’s Mandalay, said geologist Prof Syed Humayun Akhter. After the first tremor at 12:20pm, an aftershock was recorded at 6.4 on the Richter scale at 12:32 pm, he said.
