The Northern Bowling Club, on North St, could be the site of a new "mother club". They could call it Manawatū because the 86-year-old old Manawatū Bowling Club shut down in 2004 when membership fell to just 39. As if Palmerston North isn't already over-housed, over-trafficked and becoming over-populated. Meanwhile, most bowling clubs accommodate other sports clubs to defray costs and the three endangered bowling clubs will have to think about them. I get the feeling the three endangered city clubs are waiting to see what the city council offers, especially when it comes to an all-weather green.
