IPOH: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, has expressed concern that nature tourism activities are being damaged by over-commercialisation. "The mosque must not be altered in the name of expansion that would destroy its beauty," Sultan Nazrin said when opening the fifth session of the 13th Perak State Legislative Assembly at the state secretariat building. Sultan Nazrin also said that an average of 33,000 tonnes of solid waste is disposed daily, accumulating to some 12,000,000 tonne a year. He said only 5% of it is processed and recycled and the rest ends up in landfills. “The state government must have serious plans to improve recycling activities," he added.
