Summer Solstice 2020: Tiny group turn up at Stonehenge compared to over 10,000 last year

The Summer Solstice is the day of the year with the longest period of daylight, and this year took place last night at 10.43pm, taking us from spring into summer. Rollo Maughfling, Archdruid of Stonehenge and Britain, performed a ritual during a small ceremony near to the site. The sight of only a handful of people celebrating Summer Solstice is a strange one. Last year, an estimated 15,000 people watched as the sun rose above Stonehenge and shone into the middle of the site. The sun might have been elusive, but over 3.6 million of you managed to watch sunset and sunrise with us from Stonehenge!
