The editor of two national newspapers in Scotland has been arrested and charged in connection with “indecent online communications”. David McCann was appointed editor of The Times and The Sunday Times Scotland in July, but has now been suspended from the role due to “a criminal investigation unrelated to his work.”McCann, 43, was arrested after police officers executed a search warrant at an Edinburgh-area property on 25 November. McCann was promoted to editor of the News UK titles in July, succeeding Magnus Llewellin, having previously served as deputy editor and news editor. Before joining the company in 2018, he previously worked as assistant editor and head of news at The Herald, and assistant news editor at the Daily Record.
