The Chinese Embassy was in the spotlight in Parliament when the Opposition on Wednesday (21) questioned the basis on which the Embassy in Colombo had organised a visit of parliamentarians to the Colombo Port City, scheduled for the next day (22). According to Rajakaruna, the study visit to the Colombo Port City was scheduled to take place the following day, on Thursday, after Parliament sittings. However, an SMS was sent by Parliament to the MPs, noting that the visit organised by the Chinese Embassy had been postponed. Rajakaruna, in his statement in Parliament, noted that visits to the Colombo Port City were organised by the Urban Development Authority (UDA) during the former Government and not the Chinese Embassy. The Opposition legislator further questioned the basis on which the Chinese Embassy had organised visits for MPs to property belonging to Sri Lanka.
