Nani Juwara, Managing Director of the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) in The Gambia, describes the state-owned enterprise’s main strategies to meet the country’s electricity demand in the short term. Juwara says the SOE deals with the entire value chain of electricity as well as water. Since 2017, they have focused on stabilising the power supply to meet demand.
