Surrey elections WILL be held in 2026 say Times journalist and SCC Leader


Both the Times journalist and the leader of Surrey County Council have confirmed that the article about possible further postponement of local government elections does not apply to Surrey. We would expect an announcement probably confirming an east-west unitary structure in Surrey from 2027 ( the preferred SCC MVDC and Elmbridge option ) to be made in the next few weeks. But a three unitary option was also proposed N/E/W by other boroughs and districts. With both the SCC leader and MVDC leader attending :https://www.trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/94647Initial unitary elections are expected to use the existing SCC ward boundaries so Leatherhead (without Givons and Tyrrells) would be with Fetcham East. The current SCC leader represents Weybridge but doesn’t live there.
