Brock University professor Kendra Coulter said “I expect a high response rate (to her survey) because people are passionate about” animal welfare. The survey comes after an Ontario judge struck down the enforcement powers of the province’s animal welfare agency last week, saying they were unconstitutional. Coulter said the results of the survey will be analyzed and compiled in a report that will be made public. “It is a very significant time for consideration of the future of animal cruelty investigations,” Coulter said. It has also said it’s open to working with the government and stakeholders on the future of animal cruelty enforcement in the province.
