Detectives in Kisii are investigating an incident where a suspect was shot dead during a botched arrest at Nyatoima, Riana location. A police report from Kerina police station indicates that two officers had been dispatched to arrest the suspect some 13kms away from the station following a report by the area community policing chairman. The police report did not disclose the offence for which the community policing chairman wanted the suspect arrested. The injured officer was stitched at the same hospital and later referred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for a head scan since blood was still oozing from ears and nose, the police said. “The scene was visited and processed by the scene of crime personnel and the body moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Mortuary awaiting autopsy,” the police report indicated.
