Sternberg took home two Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awards, the industry’s equivalent of the Oscars. Unlike other designers, Sternberg studied economics, not design, because the year he entered Washington University, in St Louis, the economist Douglass North, a professor there, won a Nobel Prize. "It wasn’t, by the end, all that good for us, obviously, because we weren’t building a sound business," Sternberg said. When asked about online shopping, Jacobs told Business of Fashion: "I love to go to a shop. I think brands that are in it now, it's much harder to make that change."
