Sweet 60: Thai golfer's record final round highlights world golf event

Not even a birdie putt to end a wild playoff in the team event could steal the thunder of a 15-year-old girl from Thailand in the world junior girls golf championship. As it was, Thitikul’s amazing four rounds (68-71-69-60) overshadowed Italy’s playoff triumph over the United States for the team title. In the final playoff group, Alessia Nobilio sank a birdie putt on the 18th hole to secure victory. The Canada 1 team of Dao, Ellie Szeryk of London, Ont., and Tiffany Kong of Vancouver finished fourth in the team standings at 10 under par. A Canada 2 squad comprising Emily Zhu of Richmond Hill, Ont., Sarah Beqaj of Toronto and Lauren Kim of Surrey, B.C., was 18th at plus 36.
