T.N. CM Stalin condemns suspension of eight Lok Sabha MPs

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday (February 4, 2026) strongly condemned the suspension of eight Opposition Members of Parliament from the Lok Sabha on Tuesday (February 3) over unruly conduct amid protests against Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi not being allowed to speak on former Army chief General (Retired) Manoj Naravane’s unpublished memoir. He demanded that the suspension of eight MPs – seven from the Congress and one from the CPI(M) – for the rest of the Budget session, be revoked immediately so that their democratic right to speak on issues of national importance is restored. In a post on X, Mr. Stalin questioned why the BJP government at the Centre was “fearing” questions raised by Mr. Gandhi. The Union government must be prepared to answer members of the House and provide clarity on matters of national security and economic interests, he said.
