TACLOBAN CITY—The mayor of this city has issued an executive order banning all forms of “in-person” gatherings amid a spike in COVID-19 cases. ADVERTISEMENTAmong those prohibited by Mayor Alfred Romualdez are school graduation ceremonies, concerts, sporting events, and other gatherings. At least 70 people in the city died due to COVID-19. Teams from City Hall have been visiting business establishments to monitor if the order of the city mayor is being followed. Despite the rising cases of COVID-19 in Tacloban, the city remains under modified general community quarantine, the loosest quarantine status in the country.
