Taipei gives Farglory 'one more chance'TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) said Thursday he would "give Farglory (遠雄集團) one more chance" to complete construction of the Taipei Dome, one day after the company agreed to follow city regulations it had previously violated. Although the government would not terminate the Dome contract, it would step up its monitoring of the project, Ko said. "Requiring Farglory to improve the Dome complex's public safety measures is the least that can be asked of them." Responding to former Taipei City Mayor Hau Lung-bin's (郝龍斌) criticisms that the long-standing Taipei Dome dispute is "a farce," Ko said the problems today were not caused by him, but have been accumulating for more than ten years. Hours after the city government held the press conference, Farglory spokesman Jacky Yang (楊舜欽) bashed the seven safety requirements imposed on the construction group as "illegal."
