Taiwan yet to receive ICAO invite: MOFATAIPEI, Taiwan -- Due to alleged intervention from Beijing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA, 外交部) said Monday that it has not yet received an invitation to attend the upcoming International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly — the world's top civil aviation meeting. The official also said that because Taiwan is not an ICAO member, the agency's website lacks sufficient data on Taiwan. This year, the ICAO Assembly is scheduled to be held from Sept. 27 to Oct. 7 at its headquarters in Montreal, Canada. Current ICAO Secretary-General, Liu Fang (柳芳), of mainland China, assumed her post in 2015. Cross-strait uncertainties clouded Taiwan's participation in this year's World Health Assembly in Geneva — the government received a last-minute invitation that linked Taiwan's participation to accepting the "one China" policy.
