To support the handloom varieties, Tamil Nadu will have more thrust on new designs for handloom products and will also take help of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) for the same. As per media reports, new designs will be developed for traditional textile products including sarees, bedspreads, jamakkalams, and home furnishings. The idea is to develop at least around 400 new designs covering all these products and 100 new designs will also be developed exclusively for home furnishings products. It can be mentioned here that having focus on textile and apparel industry, Tamil Nadu is also supporting the weavers and various training programs have been organised for them.
