Filipina Samboist Sydney Sy Tancontian won the bronze medal in the 80-kilogram Women’s Division of the World Sambo Championship on Sunday in Novi Sad, Serbia. Tancontian then went for the jugular as she forced Huecas into submission with seven seconds left as she earned a 2-1 victory. Philippine Sambo Federation secretary-general Paolo Tancontian, who is also Sydney’s father, couldn’t be more thankful for her daughter’s achievement. She deserves it because she is so brave and for the sacrifice she did to make it to the World Championships. She really worked hard for this one for a long time despite the pandemic,”Tacontian just added another medal to his collection that includes the 2020 UAAP Judo Rookie of the Year, 2019 World Youth and Juniors Sambo Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and 2018 World Sambo Championships in Bucharest, Rome.
