Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said that localised lockdowns may be “necessary” to contain the coronavirus in a particular part of the country. Speaking on RTÉ Prime Time tonight, in potentially his last televised interview as Taoiseach, Mr Varadkar said localised lockdowns may be required to avoid a national lockdown. “I think we need to be very careful and cautious about that. He added that air-bridges from Ireland and other countries who are in a similar stage of containment of the virus when it comes to travel abroad may be a way to allow summer holidays abroad. “I think any quote is appropriate if it’s appropriate in its context, if it was written in a movie or by a poet.
