Taranaki rape case jury sent home for the night


Blaine Dean Cook is defending four charges at New Plymouth District Court. The jury in the trial of a 21-year-old South Taranaki man accused of rape will resume its deliberations on Friday morning. On Thursday morning, Judge Stephen Harrop summed up the case for the jury of five men and seven women, who retired to consider their verdict at 11am. In the evening the jury was sent home and will return to continue their deliberations at 9am. Cook is defending four charges: one each of male assaults female, unlawful sexual connection, attempted unlawful sexual connection and rape.
