Hodgman was first elected as a state MP for the seat of Franklin, in the state’s south, in 2002, and was elected leader of the Tasmanian Liberal party in 2006. A federal Liberal senator for Tasmania Jonathon Duniam, who was a former staffer for Hodgman, said he was a “tremendous man”.
