On Saturday morning the staff were trying to devise a plan to create a temporary platform for the cygnets to get across to where they thought the cygnets' parents might be. The orphaned cygnets who are too young to survive by themselves are now safely in the hands of Wild West Rescue. He said the three adult swans died unnecessarily in the salmon weir and he is currently investigating how this can be avoided into the future. A report has been made to Sligo County Council in relation to the salmon weir and the trapped swans. Concerns about the salmon weir have been expressed in the past from groups and members of the public, with even humans getting into trouble while using the river for recreational use.
