Technician pleads guilty to providing financial services to terrorists - Nation

KUALA LUMPUR: A 35-year-old technician was sentenced to seven years in jail by the High Court here for directly providing financial services for terrorist purposes. With this sentence, Bukhori Che Noor (pic) is the first person to be jailed for directly providing services for terrorist purposes, an offence under Section 130O(1)(b) of the Penal Code. Justice Azman Abdullah meted out the sentence against Bukhori - who pleaded guilty on Monday - and set his jail sentence to run from the date of his arrest on June 30 last year. He said there was an increasing number of terrorist cases registered at the High Court, adding that this shows the seriousness of the threat. The father of two was charged with directly giving financial services by allowing the deposit and transfer of money from his bank account for the benefit of terrorism.
