A 14-year-old boy taken into custody Friday on suspicion of involvement in the killing of a Barnard College freshman student has been released, according to officials with knowledge of the situation. A New York City police officer held a flier offering a reward for information about the death of Tessa Majors, the Barnard College freshman who was stabbed in Morningside Park Wednesday. Police believe Ms. Majors was robbed by a group of three people. On Sunday afternoon, a group including Barnard and Columbia students, gathered for a candlelight vigil at the edge of Morningside Park. They assembled close to a makeshift shrine for Ms. Majors in the park that was decorated with a white cross.
