Most teenagers used the internet to watch movies (90pc) followed by listening to music (89pc) and playing computer games (39pc). But it revealed that a minority of them – just one in six or 14pc of respondents – read for pleasure several times a week. It found that young women are more likely to read for pleasure and sing or play a musical instrument than their male counterparts. Young men, however, are much more likely to spend time playing computer games.
